You Steer

A failure of Scalextric is the "You Steer" system, which was introduced in 1970. With this system it was possible to steer with the wheel on the controller. The cars did not actually steer but moved sideways (just two centimeters) across the track. The cars were running on the standard 1/32 scale track.

Scalextric Sport Lap Counter and Timer

Racing is giving more fun if your laps are counted. It is nice to know that you are faster than your competitor. Scalextric Sport offers a basic inexpensive lap counter/timer. Up to 999 laps can be counted. The best lap will be timed to the nearest tenth of a second.
The counter is packed in a yellow cardboard box. The unit is fixed on a half straight section. Another half-straight section is included.
