The German author Ferdinand Schmökel has published a new book about slot car racing. 'Slot Car Racing' covers the hobby almost completely. The book is written in the German language and is not available in other languages.
The author has written three other small booklets about slot car racing. These books were written under the title 'Ferdis Garage' and covered mostly the German brand Carrera.

Slot car handbook

The book 'Slot car racing' informs the beginner about all important slot car brands like Carrera, SCX, Ninco en Scalextric. All scales are mentioned with some interesting views on the hobby.
The book is not as informative 'The Slot Car Handbook' of Dave Chang. Check out the section 'Book Reviews' for more information about this book.

Slot Car Racing

The book may be not as informative as other publication but it is still interesting for collectors of slot car racing related publications. We hope the book attract some new and young (German) slot car racers.
The hardcover book shows many photographs. Unfortunately we have to conclude that the quality of the photo's is very poor. All pictures are a bit yellow because they are underexposed. It is incomprehensible that a publishing house as Motorbuch Verlag (very famous in Germany) printed a book with these bad pictures.

Book review: Slotracing Themenhefte

Two editions of the German 'Slotracing Themenhefte' have been published. Number one and three have been printed. It is unknown for me if number two will be published at all.
The booklets are very small: 15 x 11 centimeters and count 128 pages. The price is right: 6 Euro.

Carrera Uni

The author is Ferdinand Schmökel. He is a collector of Carrera Uni. Carrera Uni is the subject of his first publication. The old system is highly collectable in the Germany. The book about Uni is written for new collectors because it gives all the basic information that you need about this system.

Book for starters

The other booklet is called 'Der Einsteiger' which means 'The Beginner'. In this publication the author gives information about three slot racing systems; Scalextric, Carrera and Ninco.
Furthermore there are chapters about famous circuits and races, like Sebring, Mille Miglia and Le Mans.

Axel Dielmann

Ferdinand Schmökel wrote two nice booklets for beginners and should not be missed by collectors of slot car books. Axel Dielmann in Frankfurt am Main in Germany publishes the booklets.
