Attractive slot car
Ninco as well as Fly have released the BMW M3 GTR. For many people the BMW is a dream car, so many slot racers were looking forward to this model. For both models you can conclude that both manufacturers have designed a spectacular, attractive model.
Design
The scale models of
Ninco and
Fly are in design very close to their examples, as shown on the photographs that were published by both manufactures. The level of detail of both cars is incredible. The half-open windows, the metal floor parts, an exhaust pipe, detailed dashboard, the drilled roll bar and disc brakes give the Fly model a "die-cast" look. On the roof of the Fly car you find an air intake. We are used to the high level of detailing of Fly, but the designers of Ninco did an excellent job too. This BMW model shows a bigger interior than we are used from Ninco. The angle-winder motor creates more space in the cockpit.
Ninco - Angle-winder
The BMW is the first real racecar of Ninco that is executed with an angle-winder motor (NC2). Only the motors of the Karts were positioned in the same way. The car is rather noisy. Probably this is a result of the plastic pinion. Time will tell us if future models will have an angel-winder motor. The magnet is positioned in the middle of the chassis. Usually the strong magnet is positioned a little more to the front.
Fly – Race motor
As normal for Fly this car has the motor in the front. The motor is the same type that has been used in the Racing GT1-98. The motor is an improvement, but some readers reported troubles with the drive shaft.
On the track
Like most of my Fly cars this model needed some adjustments before it was running trouble free. The front tires were rubbing the bodywork on the slope parts of my track. I replaced the tires for a used set and I shorted both pins that hold the front wheels. The gearwheel needed to be replaced as well. I noticed that some people experienced a problem with the drive shaft. After the pit work the car was ready to race. The BMW GTR is a fun car to drive and exhibits the typical Fly performance.
Not easy to handle
The M3 of Ninco is not the easiest car to handle, but after running a few laps you get used to it. The BMW of Ninco is a winner!
Ninco BMW fastest
On the
Scalextric Sport track the Fly model was quicker than the Ninco model, but on the Ninco track the Ninco BMW was the fastest.
Conclusion
Both companies will release besides the Motor sport model other versions of the BMW M3 GTR. Ninco has made a real street version and the driver does not wear a helmet. The glass of this version is tinted. On the backside of the car you will find a license plate. You can conclude that Fly and Ninco have designed a spectacular, attractive model. It will be a difficult choice for you if you are not able to buy them both.
