Ninco Mini is a real eye-catcher

Ninco is not known for a risky or surprising selection of models, but the (new) Mini is a real eye-catcher. The model is attractive for everybody, for the youngsters as well experienced racers.

Mini vs. Beetle

The release of the New Mini can be compared with the new Beetle of Scalextric, because of the retrospective character of the car. The Beetle of Scalextric did not fulfil the sales expectations. It is difficult to retrieve the facts, but I think that the shiny colors and poor quality of the product were the reasons for the customers to ignore the model. The quality of the Ninco model is good, but the future will show what the chances are for the Mini.

Technique

The bottom of the car shows a deviation of the normal chassis of Ninco. Both axles can be removed from the car without unscrewing the model. Club racers welcome such modifications. It is now easier to oil the axles and gears.
The spring-loaded guide, the NC-2 motor and the strong magnet are common components.

Interior and Exterior

Ninco offers the model with rally stripes or as a street model. In the slot car with the rally stripes the figure-driver is wearing a helmet and the seat of the co-driver is red. The civil car shows a blond driver and the second front seat is black.
On the roof you find an antenna, black air vents on the hood and removable mirrors at the two doors.

Handling

With the standard configuration the car flips easy if you brake to strong. The NC-2 motor is extremely powerful for this tiny model. It is not easy to control the car on the track, but the Mini brakes very fine. As the model is a funny one to drive without a magnet, it would maybe wise to install the new NC5 ("the pink speeder"). The behavior of the car becomes less jumpy in the sharp turns with the new source of power.

Conclusion

The evolution of the Austin Mini Cooper succeeded in the attractive Mini BMW. The replica of Ninco is attractive as well and it is fun to drive this model too.
