There has happened a lot in the year 2001. The big four 1/32 slot car brands have produced many car. Firms like Fly, Scalextric, Ninco and SCX have produced beautiful slot cars. In this overview almost all cars have been mentioned that are released in 2001. It is possible that not all models have been released in all countries around Europe.

Fly

The Ford Capri was very popular in the eighties. Many slot car enthusiasts were exited when Fly announced the release of the "Jägermeister" Capri. A few months before Fly had treated us with the Corvette C5R. At that moment the Corvette C5R was the best-detailed slot car.

Carrera, already the most popular manufacturer in Germany, announced to focus on the U.S. market. Some typical American cars were produced to tempt the American public.
The British Aston Martins were nice cars for Classic car lovers.

Ninco

Ninco created a four-wheel-drive system. A pulley and belt system is running all the wheels. The system was introduced at the VW Sony Golf. The Callaway of Ninco was not very successful. Not many slot racers loved the first version, the silver colored car with big lettering of Callaway. The gray street version of this car was more popular. Ninco released a range of DTM cars like the Audi TT and Mercedes CLK. At the end of 2001 Ninco introduced the NC-3-X-Trem motor. The X-trem race motor is a powerful version of the NC2.

SCX produced some very beautiful rally cars. The snow version of the Focus is one of the best-printed cars of 2001. The Mini Cooper was a popular Vintage release in 2001.

Since 2001 Scalextric is a real competitor of Fly in detailing slot cars. The Cadillac LMP, the DTM Opel V8 Coupe and the Porsche 911 GT3R are three wonderful examples of beautiful executed models. Scalextric extended their Nascar assortment.
