Vanquish Miniaturas Garzon

New developments in slot racing

Vanquish Miniaturas Garzon is responsible for new developments in slot racing. If you remove the body the detailed integral sub-chassis is exposed. The differential is another novelty of Vanquish MG.

Models

Up till now (summer 2003) Vanquish MG released three unique models and seven liveries. Vanquish MG introduced their first models at the end of 2002; the Lola Sponsored by L&M (Riverside 1971, driven by Jackie Stewart) and the blue Lola "Thermo King" (Mosport 1973 of Bob Nagel). The McLaren M8D and the Shadow MkII followed the Lola's.

BRM P54 and March 707

A BRM P54 and March 707 will be released soon. Slot racers around the world are looking forward to the first Formula-One models of MG, the Lotus 72 and the Surtees TS9.

MG offers assembly kits

MG offers assembly kits and ready-to-run models. In a kit the bodywork is painted and the mechanical parts are reassembled. Fifty parts (the driver figure, body and motor) have to be assembled.

Oversized

The models of MG are a bit too large to be called 1/32-scale. The models are designed in the range 1/28 to 1/30. The McLaren looks more a 1/24-scale model than a 1/32-scale car. The result is that the cars of MG are a class on their own.
Each model is presented in a middle-sized plastic box. A few clips fix the model. It is easy to remove the car.

Design

All the first models are built in four parts: a static chassis, a dynamic chassis (with the motor, magnet, guide and the axles), the sub-chassis and the bodywork. The body is fixed to the chassis with four screws. Two other screws are used for the sub-chassis.
As you take a closer look at the models, for example the Lola, you will notice the superb details; the driver figure with its seat belts, the instruments on the dashboard, the roll bar and cooling ducts. If you remove the body the detailed integral sub-chassis is exposed. The battery and fire extinguisher are positioned at the front of the chassis. Behind the driver you can observe a detailed motor. At the backside of the car you notice the parts that we have seen on the models of Fly.
The tampo printing is sharp and bright, but dust is noticed at some models.

Differential

We have seen the differential system on the tracks before, but Vanquish MG claims that it is produced for the first time at an industrial level. Before the first model of Vanquish MG was available on the market, the differential was a major topic of discussion. Most people were sceptical about this novelty.
The differential makes it possible that one rear wheel spins independently of the other. Technically spoken it must be possible to have more speed in the sharp turns with this system, but after testing one of the models I cannot tell you if this system makes the car faster. According to Vanquish MG the matter of grip with this system is 15 percent higher than that of a rigid axle.
The quality of the differential on the Lola's was poorly. The system broke easy on a track with a rough surface. Vanquish MG has improved the quality on the other models.

Technique and handling

The NC2-type of motor (rpm. 19.400) has a pinion with 9 teeth. The plastic gear counts 30 teeth. The models of Vanquish MG have an average weight of 100 grams with the magnet. The customers of the Lola have complained about the weakness of the motor. The company showed that it is listening to their customers and improved meanwhile the motor.
The handling of the models is good, because of the good balance and the perfect slicks. It is a joy to have a Vanquish MG on the track. The front wheels of the Lola's do not touch the track constant.
Vanquish MG, that is based in Madrid (Spain), offers a full range of spare parts.

Conclusion

The models of Vanquish MG are detailed superbly. The differential system is working well, but the excellent compound of the tires and the good balance causes the good performance of the cars on the track. The overall quality of the models is absolutely at the highest level. Vanquish MG is warmly welcomed in the field.
